Deacons at Zionsville Christian Church are responsible for the preparation and service of communion for all worship services. Communion is central to every worship service at ZCC and in the Disciples of Christ denomination. Our tradition is an “open table” where all are invited to partake of food and drink which symbolizes God’s sacrifice and our remembrance as believers.

The deacons support the weekly communion worship that is practiced at Zionsville Christian Church.  Each deacon is nominated by the church Board of Directors and approved by the church membership. Six deacons are elected to serve, with vote, on the Board of Directors.   On a rotation basis, deacons will, throughout the year, distribute the holy communion during church service; communion preparation; and, other small, but necessary duties.  Deacons will also assist Elders with the elderly and homebound visiting ministry.
