What’s For Lunch

A program sponsored By Shalom House of Boone Co. that provides lunches to children who depend upon the free school lunch program during the school year and during the Summer and breaks they do not receive lunches. So we provide for them. In 2013 we adopted a trailer park in Zionsville and in 2014 we adopted another one and have been dedicated to just helping them. Over $4000 was contributed by ZCC members along with many hours shopping, organizing, packing and distributing the lunches.

Shalom House

ZCC serves lunch twice a year at Shalom House in Lebanon.

The hungry and/or lonely can find a good hot meal and friendly conversation at Shalom House any Saturday.  Usually 6 to 8 volunteers from ZCC participate by preparing and serving the meal.

Love In The Name Of Christ (Love Inc.)

Love Inc. is a ministry to the poor in Boone Co. that is supported by 30+ churches.  ZCC members volunteer in the office or on special projects. A new emphasis is “transformational ministry” where the goal is to form mentoring relationships with those in need to help them grow and free themselves from dependency.

Ramp Ministry

Several times a year Love Inc. sends out requests to groups to build a ramp for a handicapped individual.  The men of ZCC have responded to this need and built several ramps.

Kairos Prison Ministry

Kairos is a Christian, ecumenical, lay-led, volunteer ministry to incarcerated men and women.  It is adapted from the “Great Banquet” program.  Weekends are done each spring and fall inside the prison and provide opportunities to share God’s love with those who reside there.  Kairos Outside is a ministry to women whose lives have been impacted by the incarceration of a loved one.  Kairos also provides many opportunities to participate in indirect ways through prayer, financial support, cookie baking, and place mat decoration.

Crop Walk

Crop Walk is a nation-wide program of the World Council of Churches that is aimed at eliminating hunger through an annual fundraising walk and education.  In 2012 ZCC helped to raise $4,000 for this program.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Eight years ago ZCC began to reach out to the Zionsville Community by inviting all to join us for a Thanksgiving Dinner. This past year (2014) we served nearly 400 people. The dinner runs on the Sunday before Thanksgiving from 5-7 pm. This is a free dinner for the community. This activity enjoys widespread support from the membership and is growing in appreciation by the community.
